The predictions have come true. JK Rowling’s new book for adults is topping the fiction charts.

In just three days of the release of ‘The Casual Vacancy’, around 124,603 copies have been sold. The  book which secured second position on the chart for selling the highest number of copies is ten times less than this.  Bernard Cornwell’s ‘1356′ has sold around 12, 231 copies. The JK Rowling’s book has been named as the 15th best-selling book of 2012. The novel is expected to make more money and has a long way to go as it is not even a week that the book has released.

Nielsen BookScan monitors the number of copies sold of any particular book in UK. The company has revealed that in its highest week of sale so far, ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ has sold around 664,000 copies. It is not expected that Rowling’s ‘The Casual Vacancy’ will break any records though it can be regarded as a good start for the novelist who is famous for writing children novels based upon Harry Potter. The books based on Harry Potter were no less than block-buster. It is not expected that this book will gain same amount of success.
